Research Says, Walnuts Assist To Lower Blood Pressure In At-Risk CVD People

When supported with a low saturated fats diet, the walnuts consumption may assist in lowering blood pressure in individuals at risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), as per to a novel Penn State research. In a randomized, controlled test, scientists studied the outcomes of replacing a few of the saturated fats in the participants’ diet that included walnuts. They discovered that when participants consumed whole walnuts regularly together with lower total amounts of saturated fat, they had witnessed a lower central blood pressure.

Researchers explained that the central pressure is the pressure that is applied to organs such as the heart. This measure, like blood pressure computed in the arm in a conventional way, offers information regarding an individual’s risk of developing CVD. Penny Kris-Etherton, Distinguished Professor, Nutrition, Penn State, proclaimed, the research suggests that as walnuts lowered central pressure, an individual’s risk of CVD might as well have decreased.

On a similar note, novel research suggests that a simple blood test that is currently used by doctors in the diagnosis of heart attacks can be as well employed in the prediction of the CVD risk. As per the recent statistics by the American Heart Association (AHA), approximately half of the U.S. people have some type of CVD.

In actual fact, as per 2016 figures, about 121.5 Million of the U.S. adults, or almost 48% of the total population, have CVD. It can be described as a group of health conditions that includes hypertension. Often, doctors call hypertension as the “silent killer” as it does not demonstrate any visible sign until it’s too late. The same AHA report estimates that by 2035 more than 130 Million adult population will have a kind of CVD that might cost the U.S. about $1.1 Trillion.
