Zayn Malik Leaves One Direction Due to ‘Stress,’ 1D Fans React on Twitter

Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik quits from One Direction. The fifth 1D member formally announced on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 that he is leaving the group, with the other boyband members respecting his decision. Despite that the fact that 1D will continue its world tour, directioners (1D fans) couldn’t help but to grieve on social media.

According to a rep, the singer has been “signed off with stress.” Speculations surfaced that the main reason why Malik left One Direction is the recent news that he was spotted holding hands with another girl. On his last tweet last week, he said there’s a lot of jealous but he loves his fiancée, Perrie Edwards of Little Mix.

“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right.”Zayn Malik said, noting that he wants to live normal like any 22-year old does.

“We’re really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we’ve gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue.” One Direction said.

“I would like to say thank you to Zayn for everything he has done for One Direction. Since I first met Zayn in 2010, I have grown very, very fond – and immensely proud – of him. I have seen him grow in confidence and I am truly sorry to see him leave.” Simon Cowell, who discovered the boyband on The X Factor UK, said.

1D fans immediately rushed to Twitter to express their sorrow but respected his decision. Some of them included their Vine videos, crying and screaming. Hashtags #AlwaysInOurHeartsZaynMalik, #ZaynWillAlwaysBeAPartOf1D and RIP One Direction went viral instantly.

Meanwhile, the remaining four members of One Direction, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson will continue the 1D World Tour. Among their last stops was in Manila, Philippines on March 22 and in Jakarta, Indonesia on March 25. Zayn Malik was not present on both occasions.

One Direction has already released four high-selling albums, including “Four” which was released last November. The boyband will continue their On the Road Again Tour and is set to work out to release their fifth album and world tour. Zayn Malik is back to the UK, but is likely to continue his singing career as a solo artist.
