What Raissa Robles Does Not Realize If Miriam Defensor Santiago Won The 2016 Election

First of all, please don’t get me wrong. For the record, I’m one of the millions of Filipinos who are still mourning the death of former senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago. And yes, I voted for her every time she run for senator and president, except this 2016 elections. But I must admit, I am happy that she did not win this time. Please let me explain why.

Let me start by saying that I really felt bad when I read the tweet of Raissa Robles that reads, “If MDS had become President and her VP had won, Bongbong Marcos would now be President. Think about it.” And based on her later tweets, she is obviously not a fan of the Marcoses. I can also conclude that she did not vote for Bongbong Marcos as VP.

Let me also say that I forgive her for not tweeting her condolences to the family of Sen. Miriam, maybe she is not sorry for the loss of someone who could be a great president. However, I am bothered with her thought of Bongbong Marcos being the next president had he and MDS won. I suppose she forgot what happened during the last elections.

As the entire nation knows, the administration of Noynoy Aquino did everything to make Leni Robredo win as vice president. In addition, they focused on then-VP Jejomar Binay as the closest rival of Mar Roxas and discounted Miriam Defensor-Santiago. Unfortunately for them, they understimated the coming of Rodrigo Duterte and Trillanes reacted late.

Therefore, I think that Raissa Robles’ theory of Bongbong Marcos as vice president is absurd. I also think that it would be more realistic if she instead mentioned Leni Robredo being the next president had Miriam Santiago won. If that happened, imagine how many drug lords are rushing to the bank while thousands of drug addicts are roaming the streets.

Think about it.
