Watch: Yeng Constantino Comments on Alleged It’s Showtime Band Sabotage to Rachel Gabreza (Video)
Rachel Gabreza lost her title as the defending champion of ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ at ‘It’s Showtime’ this Thursday, January 28, 2016, after she beaten by Jeremiah Tiangco. However, many netizens believed that the show band intentionally sabotage her performance. Watch her performance on the video below, and the comment of Yeng Constantino on the issue.
That day, Jeremiah Tiangco won as the daily winner of ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ after singing ‘Bridge Over Trouble Water.’ For his challenge against Rachel Gabreza, he sang ‘Broken Vow.’ Rachel sang Sheryn Regis’ ‘Come On In Out Of The Rain.’ However, there were some parts where she somehow missed the crescendo and did not match with the band’s tune.
Gabreza, who already won for 8 consecutive days. had a score of 90.0% only, while Jeremiah Tiangco from scored 92.6%. Had Rachel won and another one, she will be elevated to Hall of Fame. Nevertheless, she went home with a total of P195,000 since she first won, and is now a ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ semi-finalist, along with Dominador Aviola Jr. from Mindanao.
But on Twitter the same day, many netizens expressed their disappointment over the results of ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan.’ According to them, it was the ‘It’s Showtime’ band that made a mistake and not Gabreza, and that she should have won and remain as the defending champion of the singing competition. Some of them accused the band of sabotaging her performance.
A few hours after the show, Yeng Constantino, who was one of the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan.’ judges along with Edgar ‘Bobot’ Mortiz, Karylle, Karla Estrada, and ‘punog hurado’ Rey Valera, uploaded a video on her official Facebook page. There, she expressed her opinion on what could possibly went wrong during Rachel Gabreza’s performance and why she lost.
“Sa pagkakaalam ko, pinuputol talaga yung kanta…dahil may certain time limit and bawat contenders…Palagay ko po, nakalimutan lang talaga ni Rachel yung sequence nung editing nung song nya, at di po yun kasalanan nung banda.” Yeng Constantino said on her video, noting that the editing of songs especially the bridge part happens on other episodes of the show.
(As far as I know, the song is really being edited…because every contender has a certain limit limit…I think, Rachel forgot the sequence of the editing of her song, and it is not the band’s mistake.)
