Watch: Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon Punches Relative Drug Pusher Suspect (Video)

Move over, Mayor Rody and Inday Sara Duterte. Another Davao mayor is slowly taking your place. Tagum City Mayor Allan Lopez Rellon repeatedly punched his relative who was arrested in a buy-bust operation in his own city in Davao del Norte this Thursday, November 12, 2015. The punching incident was caught on video, which you can watch below.

As reported at ABS-CBN’s Dateline this Friday, November 13, Mayor Rellon can be seen punching an illegal drug pusher suspect while scolding him. It turned out that the suspect is a relative of the said mayor. He was identified as Jonas Rellon, who is also a member of the Tagum City Security Management Office. However, it was not mention how they are related to each other.

Apparently, five more suspects were arrested in an inn during the buy-bust operation conducted by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Thursday morning. They are Angelito Fueren, Sairel Salva, Christian Delmo, and two unnamed minors. The group was believed to connected to a drug syndicate in Marawi City.

Local authorities have reportedly confiscated four sachets of suspected shabu worth around P180,000 from the suspects, along with drug paraphernalia, firearms, and a grenade. Mayor Rellon was said to have rushed to the CIDG office after learning that one of the suspects is his relative, and emphasized that he will never tolerate illegal drugs in his city.

Being the capital of Davao del Norte, Tagum City has 23 barangays and is known as ‘City of Festivals’ for having a total of 16 festivals every year, including the Durian Festival. Rellon was elected as mayor in the 2013 election under the PDP-Laban party. He was on his third term as Tagum City vice mayor when he beat the then-incumbent Mayor Rey T. Uy.
