Watch: Sen Trillanes to Present 7 More DDS ‘Witnesses’, Rejects Other Candidates (Video)

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is set present seven more witnesses who will prove that the so-called Davao Death Squad (DDS) really exists. This is despite the fact that there might no longer be Senate hearings on this issue, as Senate President Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III has revealed recently. Watch Sen Trillanes interview at ANC video below.

“We’re vetting a few more witnesses. We’re checking if they are really sincere about coming out. If they’re telling the truth, and if they’re really ready to face the dangers of public confession. So once that’s done, we’re going to present them in public, and it doesn’t have to be in the Senate committee.” Sen. Trillanes said this Wednesday, March 15.

“The five are (self-confessed DDS members), but the two are let’s just say below the category of Mr. (Edgar) Matobato, but they are eye witnesses as well. All of them would confirm what [retired SPO3 Arturo] Lascañas and Matobato said and they’ll be coming up with specific incidents that’s peculiar to their own testimonies,” The senator added.

“We’ve already rejected a couple…because while they may be telling the truth, there is a possibility that they can get by the other side, they can get swayed by the persuasions of the other side.” The Liberal Party (LP) inclined senator said further said, noting that some of these new witnesses have approached the Catholic Church to ask for moral support.

Meanwhile, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, the chairman of the Public Order and Dangerous Drugs committee, has already adjourned the inquiry about the DDS. Likewise, Sen Koko Pimentel said that most of his colleages agree that the last testimony of Lascanas in the Senate hearing was boring and unbelievable, and that he could not blame them.

But as expected, LP senators Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan and Paolo Benigno ‘Bam’ Aquino IV, as well as Akbyan Senator Risa Hontiveros would like to hear the testimonies of the new witnesses. As of posting, Sen. Trillanes has no definite date as to when the said individuals will be presented to the media. However, he insisted that they are very credible witnesses.
