Senator Manny Pacquiao made a very exciting 3-point shot during the PBA All Star Weekend 2016 this Friday night, August 5. But unfortunately, his shot is ‘not-counted’ because it did not beat the buzzer, as he ran out of time. Nevertheless, Sen. Pacquiao showed his basketball skills and was notably good enough. As aired at TV5, the Greats vs Stalwarts,Blitz game featured some of legendary PBA players such as Alvin Patrimonio, Ronnie Magsanoc, Noli Locsin, Bong Ravena and Johnny Abarrientos. Pacquiao, who is set to return to boxing this November, played for the Stalwarts, representing the Mahindra Enforcer team, formerly named Kia Carnival.
And although he had some couple of misses including a wide-open layup, fans were still thrilled with his fast moves and successful shots. Sen. Pacquiao, who replaced the injuries LA Revilla, had 9 points, including a 3-point shot and 3 layups, along with 2 assists in the first half alone. However, the 37-year old rookie senator missed his first three shots.
During the last seconds of fourth quarter, Sen. Pacquiao was supposed to make another 3-point shot but decided to pass it to his team mate. When it was returned to him, the former Sarangani congressman shoots his supposed buzzer beater 3-point shot, but the time clock has already ended to the dismay of the cheering fans, but were still contended.
The Stalwarts led the first quarter at 25-20, and finished the second quarter increasing the lead, 48-36. Pacquio’s team also led the 3rd quarter, finishing off at 76-63. Stalwarts eventually won the game, 99-94, and Raymond Almazan was named as the game’s MVP (Most Valuable Player).

Shortly before the Blitz game, the PBA All-Star Obstacle Challenge 2016 was held where Rain or Shine’s Maverick Ahinmisi was declared the champion. For the Skills Challenge, Terrence Romeo of GlobalPort Batang Pier won again as 3point king. Meanwhile, Rey Guevarra of the Meralco Bolts was declared as slam dunk king, his third straight winning.
