Former president Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino said that the Duterte administration is also doing what he did during his time, particularly in the implementation of independent foreign policy in the Philippines. He also defended Senator Leila de Lima, who is now allegedly being being involved in illegal drugs trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

As reported at GMA’s State of the Nation, citizen Noynoy Aquino went to the Thailand Embassy in Makati City on Friday, October 28, and offered his condolences for the for the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. Later, he was asked about his comment on President Duterte’s concerns of having an independent foreign policy in the country.

(During my administration, I can say that we are also making decisions based on a single purpose…I think their version is the same with what he have done.)” Noynoy Aquino said.

“Meron kasi tayong tinatawag na strategic partnership. Dinatnan ko, dadalawa lang. Isa sa Amerika, at isa sa Japan. Meron kayong common background. Meron kayong common values. May common orientation. He added, as he explains the importance of being an ally of the US.

The former president said, explaining why he decided to be silent.

Noynoy Aquino also noted that the case of the death of 44 SAF (Special Action Forces) members is now alive again. He said he is very much willing to face filed against him last July by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC). Later, he was asked about his opinion on the troubles and allegations that Sen. Leila de Lima is facing right now.

“Time to time, baka may text. Noynoy Aquino said. Sen. De Lima is now facing several cases, including a disbarment case filed against her by the VACC, following her alleged extramarital affair with her former driver, Ronnie Dayan.
