Watch: Njel de Mesa Sings “Hindi Rin Kita Papopormahin,” Song for Sen Trillanes (Video)

Njel de Mesa of NDM Studios is back with his new song titled “Hindi Rin Kita Papopormahin,” which relates the rude behavior of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV during the Senate hearing about the extrajudicial killings in Davao when President Rodrigo Duterte was still the city mayor. Watch the video below, and listen very carefully to its happy tune and catchy lyrics.

As we all know, Sen. Trillanes had a heated argument with Senator Alan Peter Cayetano last September 15 during the said Senate hearing by the Senate committee on justice and human rights led then by Senator Leila de Lima. Trillanes was then heard telling to Cayetano, “Hindi kita papopormahin.” and even turned off the latter’s microphone.

That day, Edgar Matobato stood as a witness and claimed that then-Mayor Rody Duterte ordered killings in Davao. He was grilled by senators, especially Sen. Cayetano, and apparently defended by De Lima and Trillanes. Matabato had conflicting statements and false information, and Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson corrected some of them.

Come Monday, Sen. De Lima was removed from being the chairperson of the said committee via a 16-4 vote from her fellow senators, and was replaced by Senator Richard “Dick”: Gordon. But before that, the neophyte senator walked out from the Senate while Sen. Cayetano was delivering his privilege speech, accusing her of defending Matobato.

On the same day, Trillanes apologized to Cayetano via a sorry letter, noting that his demeanor was brought about because of the intense passion and emotion at that time. The soldier-turned-politician also promised that he will not do it again. As of posting, Cayetano has not yet announced that he is accepting Trillanes’ apology or has forgiven him.

This Monday, Sen. Trillanes delivered his privilege speech and presented documents that allegedly prove that Matabato was telling the truth in his testimony. He even called his fellow senators to investigate President Duterte regarding the issue. Later, Trillanes and Cayetano had another heated debate, and Sen. Gordon pacified them immediately.
