Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio is offering a P2-million reward for the information and arrest of the suspects of Davao City Night Market bombing last Friday night, September 2, causing 14 deaths and 67 injured people. The pregnant mayor made the announcement this Monday morning, September 5. Watch the ABS-CBN video below.
Before the interview, Mayor Sara Duterte, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, visited the wake of Kristia Gaile Bisnon at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes. Bisnon, 27, works as a private duty nurse at Davao Doctors Hospital, and was the mayor’s private nurse. It was learned that the victim watched a movie in a mall just hours before the bombing.
According to Mayor Duterte, the Davao City government will give P1 million to anyone who can provide concrete information on the identity and whereabouts of the bombing suspect, and another P1 million to be given to anyone who can bring him to local authorities. She added that the suspects should be delivered alive so that they can get details of his accomplice.
When asked about the details of the possible group or individuals behind the bombing, Mayor Sara Duterte said that thorough investigation is still going on, and that it still hard to conclude that the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) did it. Nevertheless, she confirmed that an improvised explosive device (IED) was used, and that it is usually being used by terrorists.
Mayor Sara Duterte also clarified that local police has been always visible in the area even before the bombing took place, noting that the only difference now is the additional personnel and tighter security measures. She also emphasized that Davao City is still a safe place, but reminded everyone to avoid crowded places as much as possible.
Earlier, the Davao City mayor announced that retired General Benito de Leon has replaced retired Gen. Francisco Jose Villaroman, as the new head for the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC). She added that Task Force Davao commander Col. Henry Robinson and Davao City Police Director, Senior Superintendent Michael John Dubria will also be replaced.
