Watch: INC Minister Lowell Menorca Denies Being Abducted by Iglesia ni Cristo (Video)
Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) Minister Lowell Menorca finally talked to the media, and categorically denied that he was abducted by some members of the powerful church. He was recently interviewed by INC Spokesman Edwil Zabala, but he recently talked to GMA News exclusively, to prove that he and his family are safe, and are still part of the INC.
“Malaya po akong nakalabas, at sabi ko nga po makikipag-meet ako sa inyo, at anytime pwede po akong bumalik. Wala po akong…wala po yung sinasabi nila na para daw kaming nakakulong.” Ka Lowell Menorca told GMA News reporter Sandra Aguinaldo, stressing out that the complaint against him has been withdrawn.
(I’m free to go out, and just as I told you that we will meet today, and that I can also go back anytime. I have no…it’s not true that we were like prisoners.)
During the GMA News interview, Ka Lowell was with his wife and 1-year old baby. According to Aguinaldo, the INC minister contacted her through a businessman, and that the said interview happened inside a restaurant in Quezon City. She added that Ka Lowell wishes to prove the public he and his family are perfectly fine.
Menorca was earlier reported to be arrested in Sorsogon, jailed in Dasmarinas, Cavite but was later released. He said the incident was only a case of mistaken identity, and that he went to Cavite for personal purposes only. INC ministers Juliusar “Jojo” Nemi, Arnel Tumanan, and Nolan Olarte also said in the Net 25 interview they were not kidnapped by INC.
Two days ago, Anthony Menorca, Ka Lowell’s brother, was interviewed by ABS-CBN, where he said he thinks that what his brother said when he was interviewed by the INC-run show is not true. He said that the INC is accusing Ka Lowell to be Antonio Ramirez Ebangelista, who writes the alleged corruption inside the church via the blog “Iglesia ni Cristo Silent No More.”
Anthony Menorca insisted that his brother has been forced by the INC to tell a lie, and that he and his family are currently detained inside the Central Condominium in Quezon City. Ka Lowell Menorca was earlier identified by the former administrative coordinator of the TV arm of the church and expelled INC minister Joy Yuson, as one of the abducted ministers.
