Watch: House Likely to Issue Arrest Warrant vs Sen de Lima for Telling Ronnie Dayan to Hide (Video)
The House of Representatives is likely to issue an arrest warrant vs Senator Leila de Lima after a text message proves that she told her fomer driver-bodyguard and lover, Ronnie Dayan to hide. This is according to House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, noting that the Liberal Party (LP) senator blatantly interfered with the House hearing last Thursday, November 24.
“I’ll be forced to issue a warrant of arrest (against Sen. De Lima).” Speaker Alvarez told Karen Davila in an ANCs Headstart this Monday. “Ganito yan, Karen.Pag-usapan natin yung. We started the hearing. We conducted the hearing in the illegal drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP). We invited her, she declined. So, parliament courtesy, okay lang yun.”
“Meron kaming sinabpoena na witness (Ronnie Dayan), because his name is always mentioned in the hearing. And then, she advised Dayan not to attend and to hide. Is that parliament courtesy?” He added, referring to exchange of text messages between Sen. De Lima’ cellphone number and Hanna Mae Dayan, Ronnie Dayan’s daughter last October 1.
“Huwag mo siyang pa-attend… pagkakaguluhan lang siya.Pakisabi sa kanya magtago siya, magtago lang muna siya. (Don’t let him attend…they’ll just make a show of us. Please tell him to go into hiding, to hide in the meantime.)” Sen. De Lima’s text messages to Hanna Mae reads, as presented by the latter during the first part of the House hearing.
“Who violated parliamentary courtesy? Ito, may offense doon sa institution. Kami naman, nire-respeto namin yung Senado. Walang problema doon, pero wag naman na yung mismong legitimate proceedings ng House ay pinapaki-alaman ng isang miyembro. It is an individual offense committed by Senator De Lima, not by the Senate.” Alvarez said further.
Meanwhile, Senate President Pro-Tempore Franklin Drilon and fellow LP senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Paolo Benigno ‘Bam’ Aquino IV, and Risa Hontiveros have denounced the House’s issuance of a show-cause order against Sen. De Lima. On the other hand, the troubled senator called the House hearing as a “spectacle” full of lies.
