A father from Ohio, USA told his 8-year old son that his mother has just died from drug overdose. He decided to record their conversation, and posted it on Facebook to let the whole world how hard it is for children who have parents being hooked into illegal drugs. “This is for any and every addict with children. Today I had to tell my eight-year-old son that his mommy died from a drug overdose last night. This is the realization and reality of our disease. Don’t let this disease have to make someone tell your child that you’re dead because of drugs.” Brenden Bickerstaff-Clark wrote this October 10, as caption for his video.
According to Brenden, Cameron’s mother died of overdose of heroin the night before. He then urged all drug users to seek profession help so that their children will not suffer the same consequence. He also admitted being a recovering addict, and has been ‘clean’ for 94 days, emphasizing that the video is real, and that he just asked someone to record it.
“I have something to tell you, OK?. Mommy died last night.” Bickerstaff-Clark told his son, while sitting on the other side of the table and holding his son’s hand. A woman was then sitting beside the boy. The boy was obviously shocked and confused, so his father has to repeat it again. “What do you mean, my mom? How?” The boy replied, and burst into tears.
“From drugs. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. I love you.” Bickerstaff-Clark told his son, who was comforted by the woman beside him. After several seconds of holding his hands, Brenden decided to sit beside his son and hugged him with all his heart. The 2:33-minute video was reported in various international news channel, and was confirmed to be real and authentic.
