The phenomenal AlDub love team has been featured in not just one, but two international, highly-respected news sites – BBC News and Bloomberg. This sets another breakthrough to the accidental pair of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, aka Yaya Dub. Both news sites described AlDub as a social media phenomenon, after it recently set a new Twitter record. Watch video below.

This Thursday, October 29, 2015, an article titled ”AlDub’: A Social Media Phenomenon About Love and Lip-synching” was published by BBCNewsAsia correspondent Heather Chen at British news site, BBC News. Here, a 1-minute of video of BBC Filipino presenter Rico Hizon explained why AlDub is very popular in the Philippines and in Twitter.
“They appear very down-to-earth. I believe that one big reason they are so popular is because the actors are very humble despite their massive success – they keep thanking fans as well as everyone who supports their work.” Hizon said, who admitted that he is also a huge fan of AlDub and is following the Kalyeserye series on Eat Bulaga.

The BBC News article also mentioned hashtag #AlDubEBTamangPanahon which had more than 41 million tweets on October 24, 2015, when the Aldub Nation (AlDub fans) filled the 55,000-seater Philippine Arena and watched “Sa Tamang Panahon.” This AlDub hashtag broke the 2014 FIFA World Cup hashtag #WorldCup which had only 35.6 million tweets.
“Actors and actresses are often paired up so fans hope they end up together in real life. But what’s different about ‘AlDub’… is that it wasn’t just the creation of a TV network or movie production,” Filipino TV host and blogger Daphne Osena Paez was quoted in a statement, adding that AlDub is without a doubt the most popular love team in the country today.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg uploaded a video also this Thursday titled, “‘AlDub’ Phenomenon Taking Twitter by Storm” and featured a about AlDub, which you can watch below. In their “Brandstanding” segment, iSentia Brandtology social media manager Ehden Llave Pelaez can be seen discussing AlDub to Rishaad Salamat of Bloomberg’s ‘Trending Business.’
On the start of the said 4:54-minute Bloomberg video, Pelaez explained to Salamat how AlDub started and how it eventually captured Twitter in five continents in the world. She also mentioned McDonald’s commercials where Alden and Richard appeared, and lead to high increase in sales. Interestingly, Salamat knows that today is the 15th weeksary of AlDub.
