The Department of Tourism has denied that Vice President Leni Robredo was not invited to watch the Miss Universe 2016 coronation event this Monday, January 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena. However, it appears that the vice president will still not attend the much-awaited beauty pageant, that is, if she will be seated beside President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo, it is not true that VP Leni was not invited to watch the said event, as she earlier claimed. In fact, there are now two VIP tickets reserved for her and her companion. Apparently, the invitation was delayed because VIP tickets are being highly demanded, and only lower box tickets were available that time.
“And before tickets were handed out, nasa listahan na po si VP Leni at may 2 upuan nang nakareserba sa kanya. The Department of Tourism would be delighted if she will grace the 65th Miss Universe coronation night with her presence,” Teo said, adding that cabinet secretaries and ambassadors were obliged to use the lower box tickets instead.
