VP Leni Robredo Admits She Was Not Invited to Watch Miss Universe 2016 Coronation Event via VIP Seat

Vice President Leni Robredo admitted that she will not attend the much-awaited Miss Universe 2016 coronation event this Monday, January 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The reason? She was not invited by the Miss Universe Organization nor anyone from the national government, despite being the second-highest leader of the country.

“Hindi e. Hindi ako imbitado,” VP Robredo told reporters this Friday when she was asked if she will watch the Miss Universe. Nevertheless, she emphasized that she is contented to watch the said beauty pageant live on TV but did not mention which network. The vice president will be missing the chance to enjoy the VIP seat, which costs P50,000.

It should be noted that then-Congresswoman Robredo and then-DOJ secretary Leila de Lima were two of the judges of the Bb. Pilipinas 2015. She was the one who asked Pia Wurtzbach, and her question was related to social media and internet censorship. As we all know, Wurtzbach eventually became the third Miss Universe from the Philippines.

This Friday morning, VP Robredo visited Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan to push her Angat Buhay” program, which aims to link the non-government organizations (NGOs) and the private sector and with less-fortunate families. According to her, the program was not created to complete with the government but rather to help its pro-poor programs.

“Yung sa atin talaga, yung kapital lang natin, laway saka sipag. Ina-aya natin talaga mga pribadong organisasyon na meron ding mga programa, naghahanap ng tutulungan. Ayun sinasama natin sila para makita nila yung problema on the ground. Sa mga bisitang ganito, marami tayong nakukuhang partnerships,” VP Robredo explained further.
