Volunteer Lawyers Most Likely to File Impeachment Complaint vs VP Robredo, SolGen Calida Offers Help

A group of volunteer lawyers is most likely to file an impeachment complaint against Vice President Leni Robredo, according to DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government) Assistant Secretary Epimaco Densing III this Saturday, March 18. This in line with her video shown during the recent United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs annual meeting.

“The basis of the impeachment trial is ‘betrayal of public trust,'” Densing told GMA News Online, adding that the volunteer lawyers (whose names were not disclosed) had a meeting last Friday, and discussed the possibility of filing the impeachment complaint vs Robredo. He said he attended the meeting, noting that he will not be part of the legal team.

In his earlier Facebook post, Densing said that VP Robredo’s UN video contained unverified information that could affect the economic relationship of the Philippines with other UN members. He accused her and the Liberal Party (LP) of trying to destabilize the Duterte administration by spreading false propaganda through international media.

Densing emphasized that VP Leni Robredo might have committed economic sabotage, which could be one of the basis for filing an impeachment against the second-highest leader of the country. The professor at Ateneo Graduate School of Business then urged the Filipinos to fight back against Robredo, whom he called as a pretentious vice president.

Meanwhile, Solicitor General Jose Calida offered a helping hand to impeach VP Robredo. He said he already talked to House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on how he can help, in case the latter decides to pursue an impeachment complaint. “VP Robredo will reap the people’s wrath and contempt for her treasonous act.” He tweeted this Saturday.

For her defense, VP Robredo claimed she asked the PNP for some details about the alleged ‘palit-ulo’ scheme, wherein police would take a family member of a person in the drug list in case that person cannot be found. Nevertheless, she said her request was ignored. Robredo also denied that she is part of the alleged destabilization plot vs Duterte.
