Vice Ganda Comments on Slight Increase of It’s Showtime Ratings, Thanks to Pastillas Girl
Vice Ganda admits being happy when the ratings of It’s Showtime slightly increased recently. Thanks to Angelica Jane Yap aka Pastillas Girl, who is now searching for her future boyfriend. He also gave his comments on the pressure of catching up with the high ratings of Eat Bulaga because of the phenomenal AlDub Kalyeserye, which also breaks Twitter records.
“Yes, in fairness. Sabi nga ng [ABS-CBN] management, masaya na sila. Kasi they were only praying for two points [increase], but God us six points, sabi nila. So, nung ibigay yun sa amin, na-boost ang morale naming lahat.” Vice Ganda told reporters this Friday, September 18, referring to the latest TV ratings of It’s Showtime.
(Yes, in fairness. ABS-CBN management said they’re happy, because they were only praying for two points [increase], but God us six points, they said. So this was given to us, and it boosted our morale.)
The TV host-comedian also admitted that the appearance of Pastillas Girl has really helped a lot of to increase the show’s rating. Nevertheless, the succeeding events on the show after Angelica Jane Yap on the show last Monday, September 14 are not planned. That day, she asked love advice from Madam Bertud (Vice Ganda) after her boyfriend left her another girl.
Since then, there were many applicants from Twitter for Pastillas Boy. Some of them said they are willing to leave their jobs to travel to Manila to meet Pastillas Girl on the show. This Friday, she chose Christopher Labao over Jess Verano Senido and Evan Vergogna to be her first date. Meanwhile, Vice Ganda also gave his comments about Eat Bulaga vs It’s Showtime.
“It’s competition, pero it’s nothing personal, di ba? You have to keep up with what the competition dictates in the audience. Siyempre, alangan naman na iniwan ka nang milya-milya, kahit sino naman, kahit atleta ka, kung nagtatakbuhan na at nakita mong umaalagwa na siya, gagawa ka ng paraan kung paano ka-catch up, di ba? It’s a business, at hindi ito nangyari na first time…There was a time na tinalo rin naman namin sila sa ratings, pero paano nangyari yun, di ba?”
Vice Ganda added that he’s wondering why bashers are blaming him for the low ratings of It’s Showtime, emphasizing that he is not the only one in the show. He is referring to his co-hosts, Billy Crawford, Vhong Navarro, Kim Atienza, Jhong Hilario, Coleen Garcia and Anne Curtis. Earlier, Hilario, Garcia and Curtis also commented about the AlDub Kalyeserye.
Speaking of AlDub, today, Saturday September 19 is the first date of Alden and Yaya Dub after Lola Nidora allowed them. However, there were provisions including ‘no touch’ or not even shaking hands with each other. In line with this, the AlDub hashtag #ALDUBMostAwaitedDate broke its previous Twitter record of over 6 million tweets for the hashtag #ALDUBTheAbudction, and has been tweeted 10.3 million times as of 3:58 pm.
