In a recent 2015 predictions, the coming year is still the year of Koreanovelas in the Philippines. For the record, these TV series from South Korea started to conquer the hearts of the Filipinos since 2003, when GMA Network aired Bright Girl. This was followed by Jewel in the Palace, and many more.
Without further ado, here are the top 10 upcoming Korean dramas that are set to be aired in the country 2015:
#10 My Lovely Girl
My Lovely Girl is a 2014 Korean drama and was aired in SBS from September to November. With a literal title of “Too Lovely Girl for Me,” it stars Jung Ji-hoon (aka Rain) and Krystal Jung. Here, the girlfriend of Lee Hyun-wook (played by Rain) died and he later falls in love with her sister, Yoon Se-na (Krystal Jung). This 16-episode Koreanovela is set for airing at ABS-CBN, but has no specific date yet.
#9 Blade Man
Blade Man a 2014 Koreanovela aired at KBS2 from September to November 2014. Starring Lee Dong-wook(as Joo Hong-bin) and Shin Se-kyung (as Son Se-dong). This 18-episode Korean drama is about an ill-tempered rich man who has blades coming out from his body when he gets angry. But thanks to his leading lady, his pain was healed. This will be shown at ABS-CBN, but date is yet to be announced.
#8 Good Doctor
Good Doctor is a 2013 medical Koreanovela aired at KBS2 from August to October that year. Starring Joo Won, Moon Chae-won, Joo Sang-wook, Chun Ho-jin, and many more, ABS-CBN announced in November 2013 that they have already acquired its rights to air it. But it appears that they are finding it hard to find a Filipino dubber for the role of Joo Won, who plays an autistic pediatric surgeon.
#7 Cunning Single Lady
Also known as Sly and Single-Again, this 2014 romantic comedy Koreanovela is about a couple who got married and divorced. But after three years, they crossed paths and discovered that they still love each other. Starring Joo-Sang-Wook and Lee-min-jung, this 16-episode Korean drama was aired at MBC from February to April this year. It will be aired at ABS-CBN; speculations reveal that in early 2015.
#6 Her Legend
Also known as Her Myth, Her Legend is a 2013 Koreanovela aired at jTBC from August to October that year. It is about a poor bright lady named Eun Jung-soo (played by Choi Jung-won) who met Do Jin-hoo (played by Kim Jeong-hoon). This 20-episode Korean drama also stars Son Eun-seo, and Park Yoon-jae. Since last February, ABS-CBN has been reported to air in 2015, but has no specific date until now.
#5 Emergency Couple
Also known as Emergency Man and Woman, Emergency Couple is a 2014 Korean drama aired at tvN from January to April and has 21 episodes. It stars Song Ji-hyo, Choi Jin-hyuk, Lee Pil-mo, Choi Yeo-jin and Clara Lee. Since January, this romance/comedy/medical Koreanovela has been reported to be aired at ABS-CBN. But as of posting, there has been no official announcement yet from the network.
#4 Hotel King
Hotel King is a 2014 Korean drama aired at MBC from April to July with 32 episodes. It features the reunion of Lee Dong-wook and Lee Da-hae, with both of them previously starred in the 2005 hit ‘My Girl.’ Also starring Im Seulong, Wang Ji-hye, Lee Deok-hwa and Kim Hae-sook, ABS-CBN has previously announced its airing in 2015 but has no further details as of this moment.
#3 It’s Okay, That’s Love
Also known as ‘It’s Alright, It’s Love,’ It’s Okay, That’s Love stars Jo In Sung as the mystery writer named Jang Jae Yul. He meets Ji Hae Soo (played by Gong Hyo Jin), who is in her first year fellowship in psychiatry. The two eventually fell in love with each other. This 2014 Korean drama was aired at SBS from July to September, with ABS-CBN being expected to air it in mid 2015.
#2 Glass Mask
Not to be confused with the Japanese manga series with the same title, this 2012 Korean drama was aired at tvN from September 2012 to April 2013. Glass Mask is about a woman named Kang Yi Kyung / Seo Jung Ha (portrayed by Seo Woo) whose father cop was accused of murder. Also starring Lee Ji Hoon, Kim Yoon Seo, and Park Jin Woo, this 122-episode Koreanovela is set for airing on ABS-CBN next year.
#1 Fated to Love You
The original Fated to Love You is not actually a Korean drama, but rather a Taiwanese drama released in 2008 starring Joe Chen and Ethan Ruan. Nevertheless, the Korean remake was filmed in Macau and features Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara, along with Choi Jin Hyuk and Wang Ji Won. ABS-CBN has already released it trailer in early November, but the actual date of premier has not yet announced.
For GMA, the network was reported to air some Koreanovelas in 2015 but there is no official announcement yet. Nevertheless, it was earlier reported that the 2013 Korean drama Queen of Ambition (also known as King of Ambiton) will be aired last November. Sad to say, it did not materialize.
On the other hand, two more 2014 Korean dramas are being rumored to be aired at ABS-CBN later next year. The first one is Misaeng, a corporate drama starring Yim Si-wan, Kang So-ra, Lee Sung-min, and many more. The second one is the on-going family drama Rosy Lovers, which premiered at MBC last October.
