Kosin Prasertsri, who uses the name Koko Narak on Facebook and called Filipinos “Pignoys,” has been fired from his job at business process outsourcing company in Taguig City, and is now facing deportation to his home country. This is despite the fact he has already apologized to all Filipinos, also on Facebook.
Update: May 7, 2015: Filipinos in Thailand Request Release of Thai National Who Called Pinoys “Pignoys”
“Following contentious remarks made by Kosin Prasertsri on social media, Cognizant Technology Solutions Philippines, Inc. has taken disciplinary action against him and terminated his services with effect from May 4, 2015. He has been turned over to the Bureau of Immigration.” Cognizant Philippines wrote on Facebook.
“We continue to cooperate with the Bureau of Immigration, Embassy of Thailand, Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and will provide all possible support to help resolve the matter.” The company added, noting their commitment to the highest standard of service.
Last Sunday, May 3, Koko Narak wrote a lengthy public apology on Facebook via the ASEAN Community page. On his post, he explained how sorry he was when he posted slur comments about the Filipinos. Prasertsri added that he has many Filipino friends whom he hangs out with, and has helped some of them.
However, this is very much opposite to his previous posts on his Facebook page, where he called Pinoys as “pignoys,” “low-class slum slaves, “stupid creatures,” and “a useless race.” He also said that Filipinos are only fit to work as “maids and toilet lickers.” He even compared Pinoys to cockroaches.
In his earlier posts, Koko said that Filipino food is a “stupid tasting food” and that if there will be a Jollibee branch in Thailand, it will be closed and will go bankrupt after the first three months because his people will not support it. He also reminded all Filipinos to accept that other countries look at them as animals.
Meanwhile, Bureau of Immigration (BI) has detained Kosin Prasertsri and was seen wearing handcuffs. The racist Thai national is currently “quarantined” inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City while his deportation papers are being processed. He is also set to be declared ‘persona non grata’ in the Philippines.
“Based on our records, Kosin is working under a special non-immigrant visa based on Section 47(a)(2) of the Philippine Immigration Act. The visa will be eventually cancelled should he be determined to be undesirable,” BI spokesperson Elaine Tan said, adding that the Thai national will be allowed to defend himself.
