The SM Store is now open for online shoppers, and offers free delivery for residents in some parts of Metro Manila with minimum purchase of P1,000 (One Thousand Pesos). This online store of SM Group was launched this Monday, December 15, 2014, just in time for Christmas shopping season.

“Our commitment is to provide convenience and accessibility to our customers through innovation. We remain cognizant of the evolution of shopping trends throughout the years,” SM Retail Inc. president Jorge Mendiola said, with the SM Store now offering accessories for men and women, and many more.

“We hope that with this new e-commerce site, we will be able to reach out to more of our customers by bringing more attractive brands online and provide them a more exciting and diverse shopping experience with SM,” Mendiola added.

The door-to-door delivery option is available in most parts of the country, especially in some areas in Metro Manila. On the other hand, shoppers may also pick up their purchased items at SM North EDSA, 24 hours after they placed their orders online.

For residents in Visayas and Mindanao, this offer will eventually be available in their branches in Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, and Mandurriao. Although the exact date is still unknown, the announcement is being expected soon.

Apparently, this SM Store is being seen to lessen traffic in EDSA this Christmas season. In an earlier survey, more and more Filipinos are taking advantage of online shopping. While only a few respondents believe that it is more economical, many of them said this is more comfortable than traditional shopping.

On the other hand, online security experts advise the public to be protective in their private data such as credit card information, especially when they are in a public Wi-Fi zone. Although the SM Store website uses HTTPS (where S means Secure), hackers are getting smarter as time goes by.
