President Noynoy Aquino has canceled his interview with Ryzza Mae Dizon, as announced by Malacanang on Saturday. The latest child wonder is supposed to interview PNoy in Malacanang next week, and is being set for the Valentine’s Day Special for the Ryzza Mae Show on GMA-7.
According to Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio B. Coloma, the cancellation of the Ryzza Mae-PNoy interview was made by the president himself on Friday. Coloma said PNoy decided to cancel his interview with Ryzza Mae to avoid more controversy.
“Nauunawaan ng pangulo ang kasiyahan ni Ryzza Mae at kanyang mga tangkilik kung makakausap ng bata ang pinakamataas na tao sa ating bansa. Subali’t kung ito naman ay magdudulot ng isa na namang kontobersiya, ayaw ng pangulo na madamay ang bata.” Coloma said.
(The president understands that Ryzza Mae and her fans will be very happy if the child star will interview the highest public official in the country. But if it will only create another controversy, the president does not want the child to be involved.)
Mr. Coloma also said that the Television and Production Exponents, Inc (TAPE Inc.) and its director Bert de Leon have already been informed. But when asked if PNoy still wants to be interviewed by Ryzza Mae some other time, the PCOO secretary said that there is very huge chance.
Apparently, President Noynoy Aquino received criticisms for not attending the arrival honors of the 42 fallen PNP-SAF members of the Villamor Air Base last Thursday. That time, PNoy was in Laguna for the inauguration of a Mitsubishi Motors Corporation plant.
Netizens voiced out their disappointment on Twitter where the hastag #NasaanAngPangulo (Where is the President) went viral until Friday. Tons of Filipinos were dismayed with the president, saying that as the Commander in-chief, he should be present to give respect to the fallen SAF members.
Some of them even mentioned that if PNoy can be the best man of the Dindong-Marian wedding he should also have canceled his Mitsubishi Motors plant visit. Vice Ganda also interviewed President Noynoy Aquino for his Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV) show in ABS-CBN, aired on January 4, 2015.
As of posting, neither TAPE Inc nor Vic Sotto (Ryzza Mae’s mentor) have not yet comment on this issue. The 9-year old 2012 Little Miss Philippines winner is expected to announce her guest for her Valentine’s Day Special show edition early next week.
