As we all know, jailed Senator Leila de Lima’s former driver-bodyguard and lover, Ronnie Dayan was first arrested in November 2016 in La Union. But as of now, it remains a mystery as who helped him while he was into hiding. Nevertheless, it somehow appears that he met someone from an insurance company, a month before he was arrested.
According to a Facebook post by Sass Rogando Sasot this Friday, March 17, she received a message on October 12, 2016 from a tipster who claimed that he (or she) saw Ronnie Dayan inside a cafe in La Union that day. The tipster said that Dayan allegedly exchange a package with a man on a yellow Green Toyota Innova with plate number PIO 725.
As per further investigation done by Sasot, she said that the said vehicle was registered under Beneficial Life Insurance Co. Inc. In an update of her post, the pro-Duterte blogger said that the Chairman of the Board of BenLife Insurance is Enrique Fernandez, who happens to be also the president of Eramen Minerals, Inc., in Sta. Cruz, Zambales.

This early February, DENR Secretary Gina Lopez ordered the closure of 23 mining companies including Eramen Minerals, Inc., for allegedly operating under indiscrimminate mining, and are damaging the environment. On the other hand, Sasot noted that BenLife Insurance’s official Twitter account (@Ben_Life) tweets indirect support to Sen. De Lima.

Meanwhile, Ronnie Dayan was again arrested last February 23, this time in his hometown in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan. This is after Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Judge Juanita Guerrero issued a warrant arrest against him, along with former Bureau of Corrections chief Rafael Ragos, and Sen. De Lima, as allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade.
In mid November 2016, Sen. Leila de Lima admitted that she and Ronnie Dayan had an extramarital affair for 7 years, and that they broke up before she ran for senator. As per testimony of Dayan, he received millions from drug lords, and gave them to the then-DOJ secretary. Nevertheless, the Liberal Party (LP) senator has been denying it consistently.
