Pope Francis Manila Visit Video Not Allowed in Bong-Jinggoy Movie

Pope Francis Bong Jinggoy

This early, a lot of Filipinos are asking permission from the Vatican to obtain the rights to use the video of Pope Francis when he visits the Philippines. But apparently, not everyone will be approved. This includes Viva Films and Golden Lion Films which will produce the upcoming Bong-Jinggoy movie in 2015.

According to a source close to Cristy Fermin, this is the latest development about the proposed film starring Senators Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr and Jinggoy Estrada. Fermin is the current talent manager of both Revilla and Estrada. The source requested TN not to reveal her identity, but confirmed the report.

“Nag request si Direk Carlo J. (Caparas), na kung pwede, payagan siya na gamitin sa gagawin nyang pelikula yung ilang eksena na nagmimisa si Pope Francis sa Manila Cathedral. Kaya lang, di sila pinayagan. Di naman malinaw kung bakit.” The source told TN.

(Director Carlo J. (Caparas) requested that if possible, he’ll be allowed to use some scenes of Pope Francis while holding a mass Manila Cathedral for his upcoming movie. However, their request was denied and the reason was not made clear.)

Apparently, one of the proposed dramatic scenes in the movie is to show Senator Bong Revilla praying hard while watching the Pope on live TV, kneeling beside Senator Jinggoy who is also doing the same. The said scene is said to be highlight of the movie, and probably the last part, according to the source.

Early this month, the same source told TN that Bong and Jinggoy plan to do a movie together while being detained inside the PNP custodial center at Camp Crame. This is after the two actor-politicians have been accepted their fate in politics. The Sandiganbayan has also denied their bail petitions.

The Bong-Jinggoy movie has a tentative title of “Tunay na Magkaibigan, Hanggang sa Huli” (Best Friends Until The End). Golden Lion Films (owned by Carlo J. Caparas and wife Donna Villa) has agreed to co-produce the film along with Viva Films. Bong and Jinggoy will serve as line producers.

The story plot is being developed by Caparas, and the film is planned to be included in the 41st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) on December 25, 2015. While still waiting for Sandiganbayan’s approval to the said movie, the cast members are expected to include Marian Rivera and KC Concepcion.

Former president and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, Lorna Tolentino, Robin Padilla, and Gabby Concepcion and Robin Padilla are being invited to portray cameo roles. Meanwhile, Lani Mercado (wife of Senator Bong Revilla) is considering playing the role of the wife of Bong in the film.

Malacanang and MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino (also the chairman of MMFF) showed no objection against the movie, but said that the story should not include nor mention the pork barrel scam issue. On the other hand, former Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casino does not agree with the idea.

“Niloloko ba nila tayo? Hindi porket pinayagan si Robin (Padilla) dati, pwede na rin sila. Yung kinakaso sa kanila ay may kinalaman sa pera ng taong bayan. Tapos, yung mismong pera na yun ay gagastusin nila para pagkakitaan pa rin ang mga tao. Mahiya naman sila.” Casino told TN.

(Are they trying to fool us? Robin (Padilla) was allowed before, but it doesn’t mean they should be allowed, too. Their cases are related to the people’s money. And now, they will use it to make money from the public. They should be ashamed of themselves.)
