PBA to Give Away Free Tickets for 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Opening

PBA 2015 Commissoners Cup

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) announced on Thursday, January 22, that it will give away free tickets to basketball fans for the upcoming opening of the Commissioner’s Cup this coming Tuesday, January 27 to be held at the MOA Arena, in Pasay City.

On the official PBA Facebook page, PBA Board Chairman Patrick Gregorio thanked all the basketball fans who support the league, especially the recent Philippine Cup finals series where San Miguel won against Alaska on Game 7 (80-78). This is the first All-Filipino championship win of SMB in 14 years.

With SMB losing games 1 and 3 despite having a lead of 22 and 21 points, respectively, the tandem of MVP duo of Arwind Santos and June Mar Fajardo led the Beermen to win the exciting do-or-die Game 7. Alaska Acers’ JVee Casio attempted a 3-point shot at the buzzer, but failed.

“Bilang pasasalamat ng PBA Board of Governors, kasama ni Comm. Chito Salud sa matagumpay na Philippine Cup, we are giving out the General Admission tickets for FREE on the opening of the Commissioner’s Cup on January 27 at the MOA Arena,” Gregorio said on the Facebook post.

“Nais kong ipaabot ang aking magiliw na pagbati sa San Miguel Beermen at Alaska Aces sa kanilang epikong pagtatagisan ng galing at talento, at sa libo-libong fans na walang sawang sumuporta sa ating liga,” the PBA Board Chairman added.

(I want to congratulate San Miguel Beermen at Alaska Aces for their effective battle in showing their skills and talent, and to thousands of fans who are continuously supporting the league.)

The 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup opening will feature Kia Sorento vs GlobalPort Batang Pier on the first game at around 4:15 p.m. (local time), while Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will go against Meralco Bolts at around 7 p.m.

Kia will have the 7’3″ Puerto Rican Peter John Ramos as import, while GlobalPort has the 6’9” import by the name of Calvin (C. J.) Leslie, 23, a former player of the North Carolina State. Ginebra fans will see the comeback of import Michael Dunigan, while Mercalco will have Josh Davis, a former player of San Diego State.

As of posting, PBA has not yet announced as to how many free PBA tickets to be given away and how basketball fans can get them. Meanwhile, Pinoy boxing champion and Kia Sorento Manny Pacquiao is being expected to attend. He is now in the US as one of the judges in the 2015 Miss Universe beauty pageant.
