Pabebe Girls to Join Vice Ganda ‘Wag Kang Pabebe’ Music Video, Now What?
Internet sensation ‘Pabebe Girls’ meet Vice Ganda and will be joining his ‘Wag Kang Pabebe’ music video. Yes, the famous teenage girls have caught the attention of the comedian-host. He also met the original Pabebe Girl, Mary Jaydeeryn Elias, aka Neneng Mamon, who rose to fame last May for her mamon eating demo video.
The report was confirmed by ABS-CBN and Star Records, Inc., which released “Wag Kang Pabebe,” the latest single of Vice Ganda. Pabebe Girls is composed of Janet and Michelle, who both appeared on a 45-second ‘Pabebe Warriors Threatens Normal People’ YouTube video, which immediately went viral and had parody videos.
On the said viral video, the two girls angrily said they have the right to express whatever they want, and that no one can stop them. Many netizens expressed their disappointment particularly because of their very young age. Days later, the same Pabebe Girls released another video, apologizing to the public, saying that they were only acting that time.
For the original Pabebe Girl, her Facebook page says that she is a freelance model living in Dasmarinas, Cavite, and is in a relationship. Her videos shows her wandering inside a mall, graving for her favorite food – mamon. Many netizens were annoyed her being ‘pa-cute’ or ‘pa-girl,’ which eventually started the term ‘pabebe.’
Now, let me ask you something. What exactly are these young teens up to? Did their parents really allowed them to exploit themselves? Are these minors KSP (Kulang sa Pansin)? Will they regret this moment once they become full grown adult? Or simply because they are hoping that they can make money out of their videos?
As a parent of two teenagers, there are actually many other questions running inside my mind right now. But one thing is for sure, their popularity is encouraging other teens to do the same. Although they seem to be enjoying what they do, I think they are not really concern on their future and their impact in the entertainment industry, especially for the dead OPM..
For Star Records and Vice Ganda, I’m pretty sure they know that the appearance of the Pabebe Girls on Vice Ganda’s music video can attract sales, which in the first place the reason why they get them. On the other hand, these young girls will also receive their talent fee. So now, the most important question for me is, “Now what?” 🙁 🙁 🙁
