Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Reik apologized to Miss Universe Philippines 2015 Pia Wurtzbach this Tuesday, December 22, 2015 for her controversial comment on the result of the most prestigious beauty pageant. The apology comes a day she received tons of negative comments, especially from Filipinos who have watched her video interview posted on Facebook.
This Sunday, host Steve Harvey made a mistake in announcing Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner, and Miss Philippines as the first runner-up. But after Miss Colombia was awarded with the Miss Universe crown, the ‘Family Feud’ host apologized to the crowd and the candidates and reversed his announcement. He also showed the card to the public.
Shortly after Pia Wurtzbach won the Miss Universe crown, Missosology correspondent Natalia Cruz asked Miss Germany about her opinion about the result of the recent Miss Universe 2015, which was held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. She said she is not happy and strongly said, “None of us voted for Philippines”.

The controversy led to various reactions from all over the world, including the social media. But shortly, the video interview to Miss Germany at Missosology Facebook page attracted attention and went viral. Netizens became furious about her statements, with many of them suggesting that she is only jealous because she did not even make it to the Top 10.
“Miss Universe Germany Sarah-Lorraine feels sorry for her colleague and friend Miss Colombia. This must have been the worst nightmare. She never intended to offend Miss Philippines in any way. She feels sorry for both girls. As well for Pia Miss Philippines that she didn’t have her real crowning moment.” The apology statement reads at Miss Universe – Germany Facebook page.

“She is really sorry if the video suggests anything else than that. It’s an emotional roller coaster what happened yesterday in Las Vegas. She and all the other girls felt so sorry for Colombia at that moment. They could all imagine how this must feel. That’s not the final result moment what you wish for anyone. And also for Pia.” The statement added, noting that Sarah-Lorraine Reik is happy knowing that a half-German won the Miss Universe 2015.

She is only the third Miss Universe Philippines since the pageant started back in 1952. The first ever Filipina to win Miss Universe was Gloria Diaz in 1969, followed by Margarita Moran who won in 1973.
