Pacquiao Mayweather meeting NBA

Finally, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. met for the very first time. The two boxing icons had a close encounter without a plan this Tuesday night during the Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks game in Miami, Florida. Shortly after, social media was bombarded with various reactions including the funny ones.

As shown in the video, Pacquiao and Mayweather had a very short talk during the halftime break of the game. Interestingly, Mayweather approached Pacquiao and initiated their conversation. Their voices cannot be heard, but the Pinoy champ’s lips can be read saying, “No problem, no problem.”

On a tweet by South Florida Sun Sentinel reporter Ira Winderman, he said Mayweather is surrounded by six huge bodyguards, while Pacquiao did not seem to have even a single one with him. Michael Koncz, Pacquiao’s adviser, was also near them but did not reveal what the two boxers discussed.

Before returning to their seats, the WBC champion and the WBO champion were seen exchanging cellphone numbers and shook hands. Pacquiao even gave Mayweather a brotherly hug. The 8-division boxing champion told AP that he and Mayweather will be communicating with each other.

Pacquiao and Mayweather talked over the phone back in 2001 during the latter’s undercard fight. However, this is the first time they talk face to face. The much-awaited Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight is being heavily demanded by boxing fans for many years, but negotiations have never materialized.

Pacquiao was one of the judges during the recent 2015 Miss Universe. According to Koncz, the 36-year old Pinoy boxing legend decided to stay in Miami for a few more days because of the blizzard hitting the Northeast. He added that the Pacquiao-Mayweather meeting was unplanned and purely coincidental.

Nevertheless, Manny Pacquiao is a huge fan of basketball. In fact, he is the playing-coach of Kia Motors team for the in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). On the other hand, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a huge NBA fan for many years. The undefeated boxing champion frequently watches the Miami Heat.

In earlier reports, Pacquiao was said to have agreed on the terms of Mayweather and that he is only waiting for the 37-year old American boxer. However, Mayweather has been demanding Top Rank promoter Bob Arum to be out from the negotiation.
