Business tycoon Lucio Tan met with vice presidentiable, Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.; son of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. The meeting happened this Tuesday, April 19 during a leadership forum in Binondo, Maniala, sponsored by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII).
Tan, who is now the chairman emeritus of FFCCCII, invited Bongbong Marcos as their guest speaker. The event was also attended by FFCCCII honorary presidents Alfonso Siy, Domingo Lee, Vicente Yu, Robin Sy, Francis Chua, Alfonso Cui and John Tan. The group then recalled how the elder Marcos has further strengthened Filipino-Chinese relations.
“The late President Marcos helped strengthen our ties with our neighbors in Southeast Asia and opened opportunities for many of us. We wish you all the best in this coming elections,” The group was quoted in a statement at BongbongMarcos.com, noting that during the term of President Marcos, export and trade with China were highly promoted.
For his part, Marcos said that if gets elected, he will push infrastructure projects such as schools, roads, bridges, water system and power generation plants, all of which can create jobs. The running mate of Senator Miriam Santiago also mentioned the need to improve Internet services, which is among the most expensive but slowest in the world.

Now, how will someone notice that ABS-CBN News seems to be biased with the same news report? First, their news title “Bongbong Marcos meets Lucio Tan, taipans” seems shallow if they really want their readers to read it. Try to compare it with the news title of Politiko.com – ‘Lucio Tan, Fil-Chinese recall how Marcos Sr. firmed up with China.”

Second, the content of the news only mentioned what Bongbong Marcos said on his speech during the forum. The report said, “In his speech, Marcos relived the glory days of his father’s regime in the field of agriculture. Marcos claimed that in past 30 years, the administrations after his father neglected agriculture.” This is somehow true, anyway.
Third, ABS-CBN news missed the part where Lucio Tan and the rest of FFCCCII praised the late President Marcos. And worst of all, the report did not include the group’s statement that they are wishing the best for Bongbong Marcos’ candidacy. Did ABS-CBN News did it internationally, or they have just overlooked it? See screenshot below, and you decide…
