Look: It’s Showtime TV Ratings Beats Eat Bulaga for 4 Consecutive Days, After 6 Months of AlDub (January 2016)

It’s Showtime’s TV ratings has finally improved this January 2016, and even beat Eat Bulaga’s ratings. Apparently, this dramatic change came six (6) months after the phenomenal AlDub love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, aka Yaya Dub was born. Below are the figures from Kantar Media, and what happened on both shows that affected the ratings.

As we all know, AlDub has been the biggest headache of It’s Showtime so far. The ABS-CBN noontime show tried a lot of experiments, such as allowing Ryan Rems Sarita (Funny One Grand Finals winner) and the controversial Angelica Jane Yap aka Pastillas Girl to have a segment. To add insult, AlDub also break Twitter records and was well-loved by foreigners.

But now, it appears that their new experiment is working and fans are coming back. Thanks to the return of ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan.’ the iconic singing contest that brought fame to legendary host-comedian Pepe Pimentel (the first grand champion), and the country’s Superstar, Nora Aunor. It’s Showtime also adapted its rule, where the winner is chosen by judges instead of fans.

The judges of revived ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ are OPM icon Rey Valera, Edgar Mortis Nyoy Volante Yeng Constantino, Karylle Tatlonghari-Yuzon, Mitoy Yonting, Karla Estrada and K Brosas. Four contestants, each from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila compete every day. Dominador Aviola Jr. from Mindanao is now a semi-finalist after winning 5 consecutive days.

On the other hand, AlDub Kalyeserye continues to provide the usual ‘kilig’ to AlDub Nation along with the comic acts of JoWaPao – Lola Tinidora (Jose Manalo), Lola Tidora (Paolo Ballesteros), and Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola). But unfortunately, the thrill of the split-screen of Alden and Maine is now fading, and the usual moral lessons are now not well-emphasized.

Based on Kantar Media, Eat Bulaga is still winning against It’s Showtime from January 1, 2016 to January 9, 2016, nationwide (urban and rural). But this Monday, January 11, It’s Showtime had 15.5% TV ratings, while Eat Bulaga had 15.2% only. On Tuesday, January 12, It’s Showtime fell to 15.3% and Eat Bulaga maintained its 15.2% ratings. It’s Showtime also beat Eat Bulaga on January 13 and 14, 2016.
