ABS-CBN Mocha Uson customs consultant

ABS-CBN News has wrongly reported that Mocha Uson will serve as the social media consultant at the Bureau of Customs (BOC), according to the agency. The clarification came shortly after a news article published at the Kapamilya network’s official news site this Thursday morning, August 4, titled “ Mocha Uson Named Customs Consultant.”

“Singer and dancer Mocha Uson, one of President Rodrigo Duterte’s fiercest supporters, has been tapped as “social media consultant” at the Bureau of Customs, Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon said Thursday.” ABS-CBN News wrote on their news report, which is still active as of posting, and has already been shared on social media by unsuspecting netizens.

The said report also quoted Faeldon telling ABS-CBN that “Uson will not be paid for her services and will not be appointed in an official capacity,” and that the agency considered her millions of Facebook followers as a big help. Mocha Uson, who is also known for being a solid Duterte supporter and defender, currently has 3,904, 908 Facebook followers.

This Wednesday, Mocha Uson uploaded a 14-minute video where she interviewed Commissioner Faeldon at the bureau’s headquarters at the Port of Manila, about the rampant corruption in the BOC. The former Philippine Marine officer noted that he has already warned those suspected corrupt officials and employees in the agency to change.

Nevertheless, Faeldon said adding that he has asked the stakeholders to directly complain to him on suspected irregularities, and that he is willing to make a total revamp in the agency if necessary. He also confirmed that CCTV cameras will be installed in all BOC offices. However, he emphasized the clean-up will be done legally and with due process.

Meanwhile, Bureau of Customs categorically denied ABS-CBN News news report about Mocha Uson’s appointment in the agency. “Comm. Nicanor Faeldon will not appoint Mocha Uson as BOC Social Media Consultant but she can write articles about BOC on her blog,” BOC (@CustomsPH) tweeted at around 10:40 am this Thursday on the misleading report.
