Look: 2016 Elections Sample Ballot Reveals INC to Vote for Duterte-Marcos?

Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) members are being urged to vote Davao City Mayor Rodrigo ‘Rody’ Duterte for president, and Sen. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. for vice president in the 2016 elections. This is according to an alleged INC sample ballot for Tagum City, Davao del Norte. This also includes the names of the 12 senatorial candidates that the INC will support.

As shown in the photo below, which is now being shared on some secret Facebook groups, the sample ballot shows that the Duterte-Marcos tandem is for the president and vice presidential slots. One of our followers sent it to us and allowed us to publish it, provided that we will reveal his identity. He is not a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo.

According to him, he saw the alleged INC sample ballot on some Facebook Groups but he don’t know who originally posted it. However, he said he read in a post that it might be distributed in the INC worship service this Wednesday, May 4. However, he cannot confirm if it will be revealed publicly. We asked him if he can show us the Facebook post where he saw it, but he declined. With that, we cannot confirm its authenticity.

As you can also see, the 12 senatorial candidates listed on the alleged INC sample ballot are – Manny Pacquiao, Franklin Drilon, Tito Sotto, Joel Villanueva, Ralph Recto, Dick Gordon, Pia Hontiveros, Win Gatchalian, Francis Tolentino, Migz Zubiri, Ping Lacson, and Martin Romualdez. Six of them are first time to run for senators.

Duterte, who is now leading the recent presidential surveys, made a courtesy call to Ka Eduardo Manalo. But just the rest of the presidentiables who also talked to the INC, Mayor Duterte said he did not ask INC for support. This Monday, President Noynoy Aquino personally visited Ka Eduardo and asked support for the Roxas-Robredo tandem.

This Tuesday, a supposed INC letter went viral on Facebook, wherein members are being instructed to support Duterte for president. The said letter is dated that day, and alleged signed by INC Executive Minister Eduardo V. Manalo. However, INC spokesman Ka Edwil Zabala said that the letter is fake, and that the INC will sue the letter maker.

Every election period, it becomes a tradition that presidential candidates ask support from the Iglesia ni Cristo, which is said to be practicing bloc voting. This 2016 elections, INC solid votes are expected to reach 2 million. Nevertheless, Mar Roxas said this Tuesday that he thinks he can still win the elections even without the INC support.

Earlier, there were some reports that the INC is endorsing Bongbong Marcos for vice president. The son of the late-president Ferdinand Marcos immediately thanked the influential church for their support. But just hours later, INC officials said that the church has not yet announced support for Marcos, adding that they are still deliberating on the issue.
