Leni Robredo Story on MMK, 3 Days Before 2016 Election Campaign Period Starts (Trailer Video)
This Saturday, February 6, 2016, ABS-CBN’s Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) is set to feature the life story of Camarines Sur representative Leni Robredo, the widow of late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo. She is also running for vice president this coming 2016 election, as running mate of the administration’s presidential candidate, Mar Roxas. Watch the trailer video below.
According to a report by ABS-CBN this Tuesday, February 2, Dimples Romana will play Leni Robredo, and Marvin Agustin will play Jessie Robredo. Among the other cast members include Belle Mariano, Sofia Andres, Casey Da Silva, Inah Estrada, Joe Gruta, Gigi Locsin, and many more. This MMK ‘Leni Robredo Story’ episode is directed by Raz Dela Torre.
“Kailangang gampanan yung obligasyon bilang nanay… Mula noong mawala yung asawa ko, sumulong pa rin ako… Gagamitin ko yung pagiging abogado ko para sa tama.” (I need to fulfill my obligation as a mother… Since my husband left, I moved on…I will use my being a lawyer for the good.) A voice-over of Leni Robredo can be heard on the trailer video.
What’s interesting to know is that the official election campaign period for president, vice president, senators and party-lists in the 2016 election is on Tuesday, February 9, or three (3) days after the said episode will be aired. And yes, it is very much legal according to Fair Elections Act. Therefore, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) allowed ABS-CBN to air it.
Apparently, this is not the first time that MMK has featured Leni Robredo during an election year. Back on March 23, 2013, the longest drama anthology featured the life story of her husband, who was played by Jericho Rosales, and Leni was played by Kaye Abad. Two months later, she was elected Congresswoman of the 3rd District of Camarines Sur via landslide.
MMK has also featured the life story of other politicians during election year, including that of late president Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino and senator Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino Jr in 2010. That year, their only son, Senator Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III ran for president, and won. In 2013, it was the story of then-senatorial candidates, Alan Peter Cayetano and Grace Poe.
Congrats, ABS-CBN. Your slogan,”In the service of the Filipino worldwide” is so believable…
