Vice presidential candidate, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo explained why she prefers riding the bus instead of airplane. This is after she was spotted sitting at the sidewalk last October 30 along with her three daughters, Aika, Tricia, and Jillian, while waiting at the bus terminal in Manila. The Robredo family was about to go to Naga City in observance of All Saints’ Day (Undas).
“Bus now more than 30 mins late. Thanks, Kaye Lawrence Luz, for this pic. Sabog look lang (Messy look),” Leni Robredo wrote as a caption to the said photo, which she posted on her official Facebook page, and earned tons of positive comments from netizens. This Thursday, November 12, she told Inquirer the reasons why she loves riding the bus instead or airplane.
“First, I find bus travel more reliable and efficient than a plane ride to Naga City because I have no time wasted. I can rest and sleep through the ride which takes about eight hours from Quezon City where I live with my three daughters.” Leni Robredo said, who is running for vice president in 2016, as running mate as administration presidentiable, Mar Roxas.

“It’s more than P1,000 for the most expensive fare, while the plane fare to Naga from Manila is more than P3,000 for a one-way ticket.” The widow of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo added, explaining how it is safer and more economical riding the bus as compared to traveling by plane. Secretary Robredo died in plane crash in August 2012.

“I arrive in Naga early morning and immediately I start working, going around the district. If you take the plane from Manila, half of the day is spent traveling from our house in Quezon City to the airport, then from the airport in Naga, then to my house.” Robredo explained further. The humble lawmaker has been doing this since she was elected back in 2013.
As we all know, this is not the first time that Leni Robredo was spotted waiting for a bus. In December 2014, a photo of her waiting for a bus at the Magallanes Shell Station went viral on Facebook. Mrs.Roberdo confirmed that she is indeed the one of the photo, noting that she just came from McKinley Hill in Taguig where she delivered her Freedom Speech for FNF.

“It is important for me to see myself on the same level with the ordinary people. Once I see myself higher than them, that will be my downfall,” Mrs. Robredo said, and told reporters during her recent visit in Dagupan City that she will still ride the bus even if she will be elected as vice president. This is despite the fact riding a public bus provides less security to her.
