Lea Salonga: Anne Curtis Still Not a Singer but Improving (Video)
Lea Salonga said that Anne Curtis is still not a singer, but is improving. The 43-year old former Miss Saigon star made her honest opinion, two days after Ann performed on The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 on Sunday, February 8, live via ABS-CBN. Below is the video of her performance.
“She’s still not a singer (which she admits openly). But her intonation is improving,” Lea Salonga (@MsLea Salonga) tweeted on Monday as reply to a follower who asked her opinion about Ann’s performance on the said show. She also described Anne Curtis’ singing act that time as “so much fun.”
On Tuesday, Lea was asked again by another Twitter user about her opinion on Anne’s singing voice. The outspoken Broadway diva replied, “She’s still not a singer (which she admits openly). But her intonation is improving.” Apparently, Lea’s comment has been talk of the town on the following days.
So on Thursday, Lea Salonga clarified her earlier tweet, now emphasizing than Anne is improving in her singing voice. “I said she was improving! What’s wrong with everybody??? Intonation improvement is a good thing.” The Voice PH coach tweeted. This time, she sent the tweet with a tag to Anne Curtis.
“@annecurtissmith Must be your red microphone. But seriously, I was impressed with your progress. Keep at it. And have fun!” Salonga tweeted to Curtis, who sang a medley of the hit songs of Icona Pop. Anne performed with another Voice PH coach, Bamboo and some of the Voice PH Season 2 finalists.
Apparently, this is the second time Lea Salonga’s comment to Anne Curtis’ singing voice became controversial. In 2012, Salonga was asked about her opinion about the latter’s concert at the Araneta Coliseum. That time, Lea was misquoted as saying that Anne is “out-of-tune” and an “insult to OPM.”
