Atty. Bruce Rivera, a known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte is asking for donations for Kids of Hope, the president’s favorite charity. Once the target amount of $25,000 (P1 million) has been reached, the law professor also plans to spend the excess money for an exclusive leather jacket as a gift to President Duterte as he reaches his 100 days in office.
As noted at Atty. Bruce Rivera’s post at GavaGives.com, he saw a video clip of a group of children singing a song for then-Davao City Mayor Rordigo Duterte. The kids are from Kids of Hope, a non-profit organization in Davao City that takes care of 99 children with cancer. He said he learned that each child needs around P100,000-P150,000 for their treatment.
“I am, therefore, asking all of you out there who share the same feelings of hope, gratitude, and compassion to join me in this task at hand.” Atty. Rivera wrote, noting that helping the children is a great way to show gratitude to President Duterte for leading the country, and that it will also somehow help the president lessen his worries.
“Let’s raise lots of money for these children’s medicines and hopefully we exceed the target amount so that the excess can go to a leather jacket which Mr. Leo Almodal has agreed to design personally for our president with the emblem, “Pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas.” The San Beda graduate lawyer added.
