Kris Aquino, youngest sister of President Noynoy Aquino, was allegedly snubbed when she visited the wake of 42 fallen members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Action Force (SAF). The presidential sister was spotted arriving at the wake before dawn on Friday, and wearing a black dress.
According to a report by GMA News, the 43-year old actress-host silently arrived at the Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, and talked with some family members of the slain cops and SAF members. A photo of Kris Aquino during the wake was posted on Twitter by the TV network’s reporter.
“We have so much respect for the sacrifice they (fallen SAF members) have given to our country. I feel their pain, as I also lost my father in a violent manner, so I offer them my sympathy and prayers. That’s why I’m here.” Kris Aquino reportedly said in Filipino.

Ms. Aquino was referring to the late-senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, who was gunned down at the Manila International Airport in 1983 during the Marcos era. Nevertheless, the presidential sister was not heard apologizing to the families when PNoy did not attend the arrival honors on Thursday.
Local reports said that President Noynoy Aquino attended the inauguration of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation plant in Laguna, instead of attending the arrival honors at Villamor Air Base. According to Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte, PNoy did not intentionally skip the latter event.
While the absence of PNoy at the arrival honors earned tons of criticisms, the presence of Kris Aquino at the wake did not seem to help comfort the kin of the slain SAF members. Many netizens noted that her visit have only doubled the damage, considering that she is also a TV personality and an actress.
A credible source told TN that some family members of the victims “snubbed” Kris Aquino. The presidential sister reportedly tried to approach each family, but not all of them responded. The same source said some relatives “did not entertain Kris” and treated her “like a total stranger.” Nevertheless, they said she thanked Kris for her effort.
One of them noted that she did not responded when Kris tried to hug her because she did not feel her sincerity. She added that it would be better if PNoy was there, not only because he is the president but also because he is also the commander in-chief. Kris Aquino has yet to confirm this incident.
Meanwhile, President Noynoy Aquino arrived at the wake shortly after 10 am (local time) this Friday. The president led the necrological services, awarded the “Medalya ng Katapangan” to the kin of slain SAF members, and vowed to seek justice for them.
