Kat de Castro, Noli de Castro’s Daughter, Shares Her Own Heartwarming My Duterte Story

Kat de Castro, the daughter of ABS-CBN broadcaster and former Vice President Noli de Castro, could not help but share her wonderful experience in Davao City through the kindness of Mayor Rodrigo ‘Rody’ Duterte. This is despite the fact that de Castro and her family are not residents of Davao. The former TV host related her My Duterte Story on her official Facebook and Twitter accounts this Saturday, March 5, 2015.

According to Kat de Castro, her uncle who lives in Cotabato City passed away the other day. But because of heavy traffic in Metro Manila, she was worried that her family might not be able to arrive on time if they travel straight to Cotabato. So, they decided to pass through Davao City, and just travel by land to reach Cotabato. However, they worry about their safety especially that they will travel at night.

De Castro said that the travel time from Davao to Cotabato is 5 hours, and no rental van would want to travel the route no matter how much money she offered to them. But for some reason, her concerns reach the knowledge to Mayor Rody Duterte and his chief-of-staff, Christopher “Bong” Go. When they arrived in Davao, a private van was already waiting for them and their safety was guaranteed.

True to the promise, Kat de Castro said she and her companions arrived in Cotabato safe and on time. She noted that it seems that all the check points they passed through know that they are in a hurry. Her uncle was buried before sunrise in Muslim rites. And despite the grief for the loss of a family member, the entire family is very grateful to Mayor Duterte, considering that they are not from Davao City.

“I know he does not like broadcasting his good deeds, but from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you Mayor Duterte and Bong Go. My Uncle was not a resident of Davao City yet you extended a helping hand. You guys understood our dilemma yesterday. You have done so much for our family and for that, we will be forever thankful. God bless you Mayor Duterte.” Kat de Castro wrote on the last part.

When my Uncle Nixon Sinsuat died yesterday, we panicked. Since he will be buried in Islam rites, we had to fly right away to pay our last respects. Being super traffic in Metro Manila, we won’t be able to make it to any direct flight to Cotabato City. Our best option was to fly to Davao City. We were expected to arrive at 7:30 pm. Aside from booking tickets for the entire Sinsuat family based in Manila, I was tasked to look for a van willing to travel the 5 hour route from Davao City – Cotabato City at night time. Anyone in Mindanao knows that traveling that route at night is not 100% safe. Understandably, not one van rental said yes to my request no matter how much I offered them.

Then Bong Go and Mayor Rody Duterte found out my problem. They immediately sent a private van for my family. As soon as we got out of the airport, the van was already there. When I asked how safe was the route, he said, “Don’t mind it. Your family needs to see your uncle one last time. God will be with you.” Almost all the check points along the way somehow knew we were on that route. We made it to Cotabato at 12:30am. My Uncle was buried at sunrise.

I know he does not like broadcasting his good deeds, but from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you Mayor Duterte and Bong Go. My Uncle was not a resident of Davao City yet you extended a helping hand. You guys understood our dilemma yesterday. You have done so much for our family and for that, we will be forever thankful. God bless you Mayor Duterte.
