Meet JB Naganio (or Nagano), the Filipino singer who sang ‘Stand up for Love’ with a very powerful voice despite the fact that he was relax, sitting, and drinking with his friends. His YouTube video went viral and was sent to Ellen DeGeneres. Immediately, the TV host reportedly invited him to perform on her Ellen show.
The original video was shared on Facebook last January 8, and was later posted on YouTube which has now almost 360,000 views. Credited to Grazie L. Esguerra, JB Naganio can be seen holding a cigarette and even drinks a wine before he started singing Destiny’s Child’s hit song, “Stand up for Love” via videoke.
According to the description on the same JB Naganio ‘Stand up for Love’ video uploaded by Amante Esguerra on January 12, the event took place on December, 25 2014 (Christmas Day). That time, JB and his friends were invited to eat and drink at Esguerra’s farm at Palayan City, Nueva Ecija. He sang other songs later.
Apparently, JB is not new in singing. Other YouTube videos reveal that he was once a finalist at the 2010 UK Open Mic Competition at the O2 Arena in London. That time, he sang Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel.” On the same event, he also sang Fantasia’s “I Believe” and wowed the British crowd.
On latter videos uploaded by Amante Esguerra, JB Naganio can be seen singing with some local bands in music bars. In R&B Bar in Clark, Pampanga, he belted Chaka Khan’s “Through The Fire” with flying colors. In Spicy Fingers Greenbelt, he sang “One Hello” and “Reasons” that chilled the audience.
After doing some research, it was learned that his full name is his Jouver Nagano, a Filipino nurse in at the University Hospital of North Tees. He is the front man of Food Coma, a band in Stockton, UK where he is now based. On August 24, 2014, JB became one of the finalists in Megaworld Singing competition.
As of posting, it is not yet clear as to when JB Naganio will be a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres show. But once that happens, he will be the second Filipino singer to be invited on the said show this year, next to Neil Brian Mercado, the Pinoy graphic designer who sang “Let It Go” in 42 different languages.
Obviously, Ellen DeGeneres loves to invite Pinoy talented singers on her show. Besides Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda, she also invited Raph Salazar (in 2009), “Random Girl” Zendee Rose Tenerefe (in 2013), and cousins Aldrich Lloyd Talonding and James Walter Bucong, a few days later.
