Janet Lim Napoles wears a yellow Pope Francis shirt during her bail hearing this Wednesday. When reporters ask her why, the alleged pork barrel queen said the Papal visit is a blessing for here. According to Napoles, the arrival of the pope coincides with her 51st birthday.
“I am very grateful that Pope Francis decided to visit the Philippines. It’s a blessing for me. I’m very happy that the pope’s arrival falls on my birthday. I strongly believe that God will help me get out from all these troubles.” Napoles told reporters while leaving the court room.
“My birthday wish is to stay healthy and to have a long life. I hope that Pope Francis can help bring peace to our country. I also hope that he arrives and leave the country safe.” Napoles added, noting that she has prayers to the pontiff but did not reveal it to the public.
However, many netizens were not happy to see Janet Napoles wearing the Pope Francis t-shirt. Most of them said the she does not deserve to wear it, while others call it as an insult to the pope and the entire Catholic Church. Napoles continues to deny any of the allegations thrown against her.
After the hearing, Napoles was returned to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, where she is detained in relation to the P10-billion Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam. Co-accused senators Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada are also in jail, while Senator Juan Ponce Enrile is under hospital arrest.
