It’s Showtime Final Telecast to Air This December 2015 After MMFF?
It’s Showtime will have its final telecast to be aired this December 2015, right after the start of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015. This is according to the spreading rumors in social media and YouTube comments. Apparently, the unconfirmed reports started even when Lola Nidora announced the AlDub ‘Sa Tamang Panahon,’ which later set new Twitter records.
On Facebook, a question was posted on It’s Showtime Facebook page on October 22, two days before the ‘Sa Tamang Panahon’ event at the Philippine Arena. The netizen was asking about the plans of the ABS-CBN noontime show that can match the most-waited AlDub event, and wants to know if it is true that It’s Showtime will have its last episode in December 2015.
On the other hand, the same question is also being asked even on comments on YouTube. After we did some research, we found a particular commenter who seemed to be sure in saying that the time of It’s Showtime has ended. The netizen added that Vice Ganda only requested ABS-CBN to extend the show so he can still promote his movie for the MMFF this December.
So far, Vice Ganda has numerous top-grossing films including ‘Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy’ (MMFF 2013) and ‘Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin’ (MMMF 2014). This MMFF 2015, Vice Ganda will star at ‘Beauty and the Bestie’ opposite Coco Martin. The said movie will also feature one of the most popular Kapamilya love teams, JaDine of James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
Apparently, Vice Ganda’s upcoming movie has a new treat courtesy of My Bebe Love, which stars Vic Sotto, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Alden Richards, and Maine Mendoza (aka Yaya Dub). And because this is the first movie of AlDub, many people believe that it will be a huge hit, considering that their Kalyeserye is well loved by millions of Filipinos, including OFWs around the world.
As of posting, ABS-CBN has not yet released any official statement on the It’s Showtime final telecast rumors. However, Vice Ganda somehow gave a hint during his speech while It’s Showtime was celebrating its 6th year anniversary on October 24. However, the episode is much simpler than their celebration at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on September 26.
According to Vice Ganda, the noontime show will stay until a single solid fan is still hoping for a smile. That time, the 39-year old TV host-comedian also admitted that It’s Showtime cannot beat Eat Bulaga. But while he emphasized that the purpose of the show is not to compete against Eat Bulaga, many netizens do not seem to believe his claims.
In fact, they recalled a 2010 episode of It’s Showtime where Vice Ganda appeared to be mocking Eat Bulaga. That day, he read a snail mail apparently being proud of the show’s popularity.
Vice Ganda added. And although the said letter did not mention Eat Bulaga, it seems to be referring to the show as the letter sender. With the current low ratings of It’s Showtime, many netizens are now describing it as ‘bad karma’ for Vice Ganda’s bad joke.
It’s Showtime recently introduced a new segment called ‘Hulanino’ instead of focusing more on the controversial Pastillas Girl. Apparently, this shadow-guessing game was inspired by Filipino shadow play group El Gamma Penumbra. It has become instant to ‘madlang people,’ as they are getting thrilled when participants are finding it hard to guess the right answer.
However, the question is, ‘Can It’s Showtime sustain the excitement of the audience by their current format? There are also rumors that the ABS-CBN noontime show will be reformatted in 2016 instead of having its last episode on December. Nevertheless, many netizens believe that the results of the upcoming MMFF will play a major role to the future of the show.
