The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) has denied endorsing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo ‘Rody’ Duterte for president. This is shortly after a supported INC letter started to spread across Facebook, stating that INC Executive Minister Eduardo V. Manalo gave instructions to all INC members to support Duterte this coming presidential elections.
“To all our beloved brethren in Iglesia ni Cristo all over the world, through this letter I am instructing you to support Rodrigo Roa Duterte as the official endorsed candidate to be president of the Philippine in the coming May 9 elections.” The start of the supposed INC letter dated May 2, 2016 reads, as translated from Pilipino language.
The letter noted that the decision was made after a scrutinizing of all the presidentiables, adding that Duterte is a role model, a GOD-fearing citizen, and full of hope. The latter part of the letter said that Ka Eduardo Manalo is hoping that this instruction be followed, as part of the obligation not to disobey God’s commandment.
