The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) is set to expel Tenny Manalo and her son, Felix Nathaniel ‘Angel’ from the church ministry. The announcement was made this Thursday morning (July 23) via a news conference, led by INC General Evangelist Bienvenido Santiago. This action is connected to the controversial YouTube video released earlier.
“While this is painful for Brother Eduardo Manalo, they (INC) decided to expel people who are creating divisions in the Church. In the coming worship services of the Iglesia ni Cristo starting today, we will be telling this to all our brethren.” Santiago said.
Santiago stressed out that INC is a religious group, and not a corporation of a family . He also denied the claim of Tenny and son that their lives are in danger. However, he added that the church will conduct an investigation on the claims that some ministers have been abducted. The INC General Evangelist requested unity among its members.
Tenny Manalo is Eraño “Erdy” Manalo, the former executive minister of the INC, while Angel Manalo is their son and younger brother of Eduardo Manalo, the current Executive Minister of the INC. He is the grandson of Felix Manalo, the founder of INC, and is the oldest among his siblings. The INC will be celebrating its 101th anniversary this Monday, July 27.
On the 1:54 minute YouTube video uploaded this Thursday, Angel Manalo was the one first to speak. He later introduced her mother Tenny, who was not shown in the video but her voice was heard as spoke in a very lonely voice. The mother and son said their lives are in danger and that they wish their brethren could pray for them. Tenny Manalo said,
“Ako’y nananawagan sa aming mga kapatid sa Iglesia na tulungan ninyo kami dahil may panganib sa aming buhay. Saklolohan ninyo ang aking mga anak, si Angel at Lottie at ang kanilang mga kasama. Tulungan niyo rin ang mga ministro na dinukot at hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa nakikita. Kaawaan natin sila at ang kanilang pamilya. At sa aking anak na si Eduardo, sana makausap kita…”
(I am appealing to our brethren in the church (INC) to help us because there is a threat to our very lives. Please help my children, Angel and Lottie, and their companions. Let us also help the ministers who were taken and until now, have not yet been found. Let us show mercy to them and their families. And to my son Eduardo, I hope I can talk to you.)
TN is not a member of Iglesia ni Cristo, but we respect all religious groups. We hope that everything will end well for the entire INC, and that no one will be hurt. And while we support freedom of speech, we are reminding everyone not to post any foul comment against INC and its members. Otherwise we will not approve them.
