Henry Sy is the richest Filipino this 2015. This is according to Forbes magazine’s latest list of richest persons in the world this year. Interestingly, 11 Filipino billionaires were included in Forbes’ list including a former senator. Bill Gates remained as the richest man in the world, a title he dominated for years.
According to Forbes, Henry Sy had an increase of net worth of $2.9 billion this year as compared to last year’s $11.3 billion. The 90-year old Filipino-Chinese business mogul of the SM Group has a net worth of $14.2 billion, and is the 73rd richest man on earth today. He ranked 97th back in 2014.
On the other hand, John Gokongwei Jr. landed as the second-richest Filipino this 2015. The 88-year old JG Summit Holdings founder has a net worth of $5.8 billion and ranks 254th richest person in the world. Among his businesses are airlines, banking, telecoms, property development, and the power sector.
Landing on the third spot is Enrique Razon Jr., the Chairman and SEO of International Container Terminal Services Inc. The 55-year old Filipino billionaire has now a net worth of $5.2 billion, a $1 billion increase from his last year’s net worth of $4.2 billion. He is now the 291st richest man in the world.
The fourth place goes to Andrew Tan, whose net worth has increased from $4.7 billion to $4.8 billion this 2015. Apparently, the 62-year old Filipino-Chinese billionaire went down from 319th to the 330th richest man on the planet today. Besides Megaworld, Tan is also the man behind Emperador Distillers.
Lucio Tan, whose current net worth is $4.4 billion from last year’s $6.1 billion, landed as the fifth richest Filipino and ranked 369th in the world. The 80-year old Asia Brewery owner was tied with George Ty, whose businesses include banking, property, and the energy sector. His 2014 net worth is $2.3 billion.

Nevertheless, one very interesting personality who landed for the first time on the list of Forbes’ Richest Billionaires List is former NBA superstar, Michael Jordan. The 52-year old “greatest basketball player of all time,” whose most of his earnings come from Nike, ranked as 1,741st richest person in world.
