A disappointed netizen uploaded photos of a road that is being demolished despite the fact that it is already concrete. The said photos were taken at Bangga Kabo, Mandurriao, Iloilo City last Sunday, June 26, just four days before President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will officially be replaced by President-elect Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte.
According to Facebook user Pistong Melliza, several concrete roads in the area and throughout the province and city are being demolished considering that they are still serviceable. In addition, he said that these roads are being re-concreted again, and he cannot understand why. Nevertheless, he blames the outgoing Aquino administration.
“Many barangays in Iloilo City are crying for roads, even sand-and-gravel types, to liberate their people from the risk of walking on stilts, fishpond embankments, muddled carabao trails and footwalks that even bikes find it hard to negotiate.” He added, noting that incoming president Duterte should end wasting taxpayers’ hard-earned money.
“The author, mastermind and provocateur-in-chief of this “operasyon bakbak” is the Prince of Pork, incidentally, the one who needs to be crucified if only to redeem his soul that has been lost in the inglorious reign of the Yellow Zombies with the King of Pork, Abnoy the Great. Bwisit nga Franklin Drilon!” Melliza angrily concluded.
Incidentally, this so-called ‘Operation Bakbak’ is not only happening in Iloilo City but also in various cities and provinces in the country. For the longest time, people are wondering why certain roads are being demolished. Sad to say, many believe that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is making good money out of them.
As we all know, DPWH is one the most corrupt government agencies even before President Noynoy Aquino was elected in 2010. But in his State of the Nation Addresses (SONA) in June 2015, PNoy commended the agency (under DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson) for saving huge money money because of the Daang Matuwid governance.
