AlDub, Wally Bayola to Receive First-Ever Catholic Social Media Award
The phenomenal AlDub love team is set to receive the first ever Catholic Social Media Awards (CSMA) this month. The unstoppable and record-breaking Kalyeserye of Eat Bulaga via GMA-7 stars Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (aka Yaya Dub), and Wally Bayola as Lola Nidora, supported by host-comedians Jose Manalo and Paolo Ballesteros.
According to CBCP News, AlDub is among the recipients of the first Church-based social media award. The recognition will be awarded during the the 4th Catholic Social Media Summit (CSMSv4) in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on October 10 to 11, 2015. Hundreds of social communication ministry workers all over the country are expected to attend the said event.
Radio Veritas 846 social media consultant Mon Bandril, who is also part of the awards organizing committee, said on the report that the AlDub Kalyeserye deserves the recognition because it gives inspiring messages on chivalry, modesty, morality, values, virtues, respect for elders, and other good deeds every human being should follow, Christians or not.
“This is the kind [of show] that we don’t see on TV anymore,” Bandril added, noting that the CSMA aims to encourage entertainment producers, directors, writers and actors to create shows that are not only entertaining, but are also steeped in Christian values. The CSMA is a joint project of Youth Pinoy and the Areopagus Communications, Inc.
Nevertheless, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas clarified that the CBCP nor its arm Episcopal Commission for Social Communications is not involved in the CSMA, contrary to what some news reports mentioned. He made the clarification on his official Facebook page this Tuesday, October 6.
Eat Bulaga producer TAPE Production will also receive the award, along with Wally Bayola and Maine Mendoza. Unfortunately for AlDub Nation (AlDub fans) who will attend the event, Alden Richards will not be joining them. It is also not clear as to whether Wally and Maine will wear their signature attire or not while receiving the prestigious award.
Meanwhile, some AlDub critics are questioning the CSMA for giving the award to the Kalyeserye. According to them, the show features cross-dressing actors and are therefore promoting awarding homosexuals. But for AlDub Nation, the costumes of Wally Bayola, Jose (as Lola Tinidora) and Paolo (as Lola Tidora) are only part of their roles.
Incidentally, today, Thursday, October 8, 2015 is the 12th weeksary of AlDub. But unlike the ‘kilig’ moments when Alden visited Yaya Dub at Lola Nidora’s mansion and last Saturday when AlDub had their visit at Broadway, the episode is expected to be the opposite. Lola Nidora will be revealing the content of the letter to her from Isadora, Yaya Dub’s biological mother. Alden has been absent for the past 2 days, and we’re not sure if he will be back today.
