ABS-CBN, GMA-7 Employees Forced to Remove Illegally Parked Vehicles, Obey MMDA Road Clearing Operations

Employees of ABS-CBN and GMA Network are dubbed as ‘untouchables’ when it comes to illegal parking in front of their respective stations in Quezon City. But as the MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) under the Duterte administration has become stricter in their road clearing operations, both TV networks did not have a choice but to follow.

For the longest time, if one would visit the TV stations of ABS-CBN and GMA-7, they will find cars of their employees blatantly parked on the road, thus adding to the traffic problem. These vehicles can be seen double parking and even triple parking, and the traffic enforcers could not do anything about them. But now, people saw a different scene..

In a post by Carlos Munda at Mindanation.com this Tuesday, October 18, he said he lives in Davao City but sometimes required to go to Manila and Quezon City. According to him, he was surprised to see that some major streets that used to have obstructions are now cleared and are easy to pass through, particularly in roads in front of ABS-CBN and GMA.

Based on the photos that Munda has shared, the Sgt. Esguerra street where the main gate of ABS-CBN is now free from obstruction. Likewise, the GMA Network Drive that connects Timog Ave and EDSA has also no illegally parked vehicles. He suggested that employees of both networks now feel that the Duterte Discipline is working for them.

However, Munda said a fish-ball vendor in front of ABS-CBN told him that the car owners did not really voluntarily made the gesture in service of the Filipinos. Instead, they were only forced to do so after a group of tow trucks started to tow illegally-parked vehicles in their area. Therefore, can we expect to see their vehicles on the right parking area everyday? 🙁
