As we all know, Senator Leila de Lima is consistently denying allegations that she is involved in illegal drugs trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP). But based on her recent statements against the on-going hearing of House Committee on justice. many netizens believe that the former DOJ secretary is showing symptoms of having amnesia.
This Tuesday late afternoon, Sen. de Lima delivered her privilege speech in the Senate. As expected, the teary-eyed senator denied all the allegations particularly Colangco’s statement that he personally talked to her over the phone in January 2014. But while she is hoping to get support, here are five important facts that she has likely have forgotten.
#1 Investigation should be welcomed with open arms
“If there is nothing to hide, the investigation should be welcomed with open arms, and not questioned at every turn for irrelevant reasons.” Then-DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima said on October 17, 2014, referring to then-Vice President Jejomar Binay, who was accused of having ill-gotten wealth. So, why can’t she now apply the same statement to herself?

#2 Not all non-Duterte supporters are involved in illegal drugs
“Kapag hindi ka Pro-Duterte, ikaw ay drug lord coddler, ikaw ay pusher, ikaw ay isang adik. (If you are not a pro-Duterte, you are a drug lord coddler, pusher or addict.)” – Sen. Leila de Lima said this Tuesday, September 20. Apparently, she forgot that President Duterte garnered 16,601,997 votes, and it will be hell if all of them are involved in drugs.

#3 House investigation is bias against her
In the same speech, Sen. de Lima claimed that the witnesses were now being pressured to testify against her. Was not being bias, too?

Edgar Matobato was under the Witness Protection Program (WPP) of the Department of Justice (DOJ) since 2014 when Sen. de Lima was still the DOJ secretary and President Duterte was still the mayor of Davao City. Therefore, why did she only now publicly exposed Matobato? Did she forgot that a president is more powerful than a mayor?

#5 Ombudsman and CHR found no evidence of Duterte’s link to extrajudicial killings
Sen. De Lima forgot that she was the chair of the CHR (Commission on Human Rights) that investigated the case in 2009, and said that no evidence was found linking him and the so-called Davao Death Squad (DDS). The troubled senator also forgot that the Ombudsman had a later investigation, and dubbed the allegations as hearsay (chismis) only.
